Paid Internship – 1st September 2025 to 1st March 2026 – 6 months 

Under the supervision of the General Director and Communication Assistant, the intern will support the organization in developing communication tools for both institutional and fundraising purposes. This includes assisting in the production and updating of various communication materials such as annual reports, newsletters, presentations, publications, programs, and events. The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to: 

  • Manage and update FMSI communication channels (newsletters, website, social media) with current and relevant content.
  • Design graphic materials for communication projects, the Annual Report, and fundraising initiatives, in support of the Communication Assistant.
  • Support the Communication Assistant in planning and organizing future FMSI events.

1. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. COMMUNICATION, GRAPHIC DESIGN AND SOCIAL MEDIA 

  • Assisting in the editorial design of publications generated by FMSI, including materials for internal communication. 
  • Supporting the monthly graphic development of newsletters also ensuring data and information activities are implemented in accordance with data privacy policies, global data sharing agreements and data protection regulations.
  • Helping develop institutional and thematic brochures for events.
  • Establish and manage a constant flow of information with the Project Unit, including through regular project activities updates.
  • Assisting in the organization of audiovisual materials, including managing the photo and video library.
  • Continuous update of web pages, social media and newsletter.
  • Providing logistical support for communication initiatives and events. 

2. MAJOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS 

  • General Director;
  • Communication Assistant;
  • Other Units and Offices of both FMSI and the Marist Institute; 

3. REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE 

3.1 Education and training 

  • Master Degree or Bachelor in Communication, Graphic Design or related fields.
  • Excellent knowledge in Canva, WordPress, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Advanced knowledge of main social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin) and Meta Business Suite.
  • Good computer literacy skills including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of privacy policies, global data sharing agreements and data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR). 

3.2 Language skills 

Excellent mastery of English or Spanish (written and spoken); both language and other languages are a plus. 

3.3 Competences and skills 

  • Ability to support the Editorial design, update and maintain the website using WordPress, update and maintain social media.
  • Excellent transversal skills – Confident, well-mannered and able to establish and maintain effective relationships with people from different cultures.
  • Organizational and management skills.
  • Marked sensitivity for international development cooperation, justice, solidarity.
  • Proactive with a commitment to quality and accuracy with close attention to detailInclined to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proactive mindset, flexibility, and ability to work both independently and in the Communication team.
  • Knowledge of the non-profit world. 

4. LEVEL/METHODS OF SUPERVISION 

Under the supervision of the General Director and the support of the Communication Assistant, the intern will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package, the intern will rapidly start to give practical help to the team. 

5. TRAINING COMPONENT 

Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in FMSI workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
