Mozambique: new spaces for education and the future
From November 11 to 16, FMSI carried out a monitoring mission in Mozambique to visit two important educational projects supported by the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) and implemented together with the Marist Brothers in the country. It was a valuable opportunity to meet students, teachers, and local communities, observing firsthand the results achieved and the tangible impact these projects are generating.
Bilene – Ten new classrooms for the Marist Secondary School
In Bilene, the project to build ten new classrooms at the Marist Secondary School has just been completed. The intervention, funded by CEI, now allows the school to expand access to secondary education in an area experiencing significant demographic growth. The new classrooms provide a safe, bright, and suitable environment for the learning needs of hundreds of students. The local community has expressed great satisfaction with the improved educational conditions and the new study opportunities offered to the youth of Bilene.

Manica – The pre-school that continues to make a difference
The mission also included a visit to the Manica pre-school, a project completed in 2021 but which continues to have a significant impact on the lives of younger children. Thanks to CEI support, the pre-school now ensures a first access to education in a welcoming, safe, and structured environment, essential especially for children from vulnerable backgrounds. During the visit, it was possible to observe the progress achieved and the crucial role the pre-school plays in strengthening the educational quality of the community.
A tangible impact for local communities
In both locations, the field experience confirmed the relevance and sustainability of the interventions carried out. The enthusiasm of the teachers, the participation of families, and the smiles of the children are the most authentic testimony of an investment that continues to generate positive change. FMSI expresses deep gratitude to CEI for supporting educational projects in Mozambique and renews its commitment to promoting the rights and opportunities of children and young people in the country.
